Abstract
Wrinkles are one of the most visible signs in skin aging. Treatment options varies from invasive to non-invasive procedures in addition to combination therapies. Combining platelet rich plasma and fractional carbon dioxide laser has been used in the last few years as they have shown promising results in treating rhytides since the microthermal zones (MTZs) created by the fractional CO2 laser helps delivering the PRP into the dermis which aids in the process of collagen induction. Aim of the work was to compare and assess the clinical efficacy of fractional CO2 laser alone vs. combined fractional CO2 laser and PRP in treatment of wrinkles (using the Antera 3D camera). The study included 26 female patients who were subjected to history taking, dermatological examination and identification of wrinkles types and grades. Each face was split into 2 halves; a control side (Fractional CO2 laser+saline) and an experimental side (Fractional CO2 laser+PRP). Treatment plan was 1 laser session per month for a total of 4 sessions. Antera camera and standard were recorded at the baseline, the follow-up visit and 2 months after the last session for the final clinical objective evaluation. Scores of Patient satisfaction, side effects severity and FACE-Q overall satisfaction have been recorded. 2 dermatologists assessed digital photographs. Combined treatment with fractional CO2 laser and PRP proven to be as effective in improving wrinkles as fractional CO2 alone. Antera camera measurements showed statistical significance in overall wrinkles measurements in each side but there was no significant difference between the 2 sides.
